چکیده

This study conducted a quantitative microbial risk assessment (QMRA), incorporating the effect of boiling water, on major sources drinking water for households in Afikpo North LGA, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. Water samples were collected from12 boreholes (n =36), popular spring (n= 36) and four brands sachet 36).The analysed laboratory colonies microorganisms, coliform organisms, E. coli, Salmonella spp Giardia lamblia. Data specific parameters population =1150). The include daily consumption per person day (L/person/day), fraction thepopulatonexposed to contaminated source under consideration, percentage ofthe vulnerableto pathogenic infection among exposed population, the pathogen strike rate each source, probability that is boiled before drinking. Quantitative was performed concentrations coli (CFU/L), lamblia (Cyst/L) samples. From findings, diarrhea significantly highin all examined. ranged between0.090 0.190 borehole 0.004 0.032 0.039 0.125 sources. implication an urgent need regualte operation boreholes, protect enforce standards processes production, distribution storage LGA.

Incorporating parameter uncertainty into Quantitative Microbial Risk Assessment (QMRA).

Modern statistical models and computational methods can now incorporate uncertainty of the parameters used in Quantitative Microbial Risk Assessments (QMRA). Many QMRAs use Monte Carlo methods, but work from fixed estimates for means, variances and other parameters. We illustrate the ease of estimating all parameters contemporaneously with the risk assessment, incorporating all the parameter un...

Investigation of water consumption patterns among Irish adults for waterborne quantitative microbial risk assessment (QMRA).

Microbial and chemical contamination of drinking water supplies can cause human health problems. Microbial pathogens are of primary concern and quantitative microbial risk assessment (QMRA) is employed to assess and manage the risks they pose. Estimates of drinking water consumption, or distributions, are required to assess levels of waterborne pathogen exposure. To establish distributions for ...

Quantitative microbial risk assessment of distributed drinking water using faecal indicator incidence and concentrations.

Quantitative Microbial Risk Assessments (QMRA) have focused on drinking water system components upstream of distribution to customers, for nominal and event conditions. Yet some 15-33% of waterborne outbreaks are reported to be caused by contamination events in distribution systems. In the majority of these cases and probably in all non-outbreak contamination events, no pathogen concentration d...
